The rationale of the project is to contribute to the development of Slovak foreign policy towards Northeast and Southeast Asia states. As an emerging superpower, China has manifested increasing ability to influence global developments. The BRI project offers concrete opportunities for Slovakia as confirmed in the government‘s Conception for the development of economic relations with China for 2017-2020. However, Slovakia also has the potential to increase ties with other Northeast Asian countries.
The main goal of the project is to identify the opportunities for the development of ties with East Asian countries.
The project has two sectional goals:
- Analysis of China’s interest in the V4 countries and drawing up of recommendations for the Slovak V4 presidency to increase coordination of V4 countries China policies.
- Bringing the Asia policy of Slovakia close to the public and bolsterning the democratic legitimacy of the Slovak foreign policy.
The project is supported with a financial grant from the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic.
