This ongoing research project (project number: 21320107) analyses the Chinese investments in Visegrad countries before and after the crisis with a special focus on Chinese financial assistance such as the purchase of government bonds, credit lines and grants for infrastructure projects. In addition to the economic issues, the research examines the underlying political interests of both sides as well as the attitude of V4 societies to incoming Chinese capital and growing influence.
The project is coordinated by the Institute of World Economics, Centre for Economic and Regional Studies HAS, Budapest.
The first stage of the project, “Chinese financial presence in Slovakia and Slovak China-policy“, was successfully concluded by a presentation of results at the conference in Warsaw. The project is currently in its second stage.
