In her IAS Policy Paper, our colleague Alena Fričová explores a possible correlation between the ongoing processes of liberalization and democratization of Burmese society and the rising tension among ethnic groups, often leading to violent clashes and accompanying destabilization of the country, two apparent realities of Burma today. Author offers a claim there are several ways in which the ongoing reforms can destabilize the country.
