Investigating China-related narratives in the Central European information space

CEIAS is implementing a project studying the China-related narratives on social media and public discourse in Central European countries (Czechia, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia).

The project will present a comprehensive analysis of the China-related narratives on key social media in Central Europe, specifically Czechia, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia. Using a unique corpus of data gathered via the Gerulata Juno platform on the most popular social networks, it will identify the key narratives, investigate their origin and the tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) employed in their articulation and dissemination, and determine the related major actors and networks. Specifically, the project will focus on the links between these actors and state-affiliated entities of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) and the role of these entities in influencing the discourse. Moreover, the project will analyze the acceptance of related narratives beyond the online information space via large-scale public opinion polls in the four countries.
