Co-Director
Kristina Kironska is an interdisciplinary academic working at the intersection of international relations, human rights, and Asian studies. She has extensive experience in research, election observation, and human rights advocacy. She serves as Co-Director of the Central European Institute of Asian Studies (CEIAS), heading its EU–Taiwan Tracker and the Human Rights in East Asia project (2024-2026). She is also Assistant Professor at Palacký University in Olomouc in Czechia, where she leads the Global Taiwan Chair project (2025-2026) and the Myanmar Studies Center. In the past she lectured at the University of Taipei and at the University of Vienna. In the past, she spent several years in Taiwan and in Myanmar, combining academic work with human rights activities. She still frequently visits Taiwan for research. From 2023, she also serves as a Board Member of the European Association of Taiwan Studies (EATS), and is a member of the U.S.-Taiwan-European Next Generation Working Group (2025-2027) led by UC Berlekey. Her research focuses on East and Southeast Asia. Her latest book, Contemporary Taiwan: More than a Flashpoint (Routledge, 2025), reflects her commitment to strengthening global understanding of the region. She is also Chair of the Board of Amnesty International Slovakia (since 2022) and remains active in rights-protection work across Asia. She is fluent in eight languages.
